about

‘New Ghost in Town’ - ‘I was wandering in a local cemetery, and mused that death often led to ill-matched grave neighbours. I then considered if there was any pecking order amongst ghosts, and imagined myself as a new outsider spirit, forever forced to mingle against my will with others whose time to lie here had come before my own.'

A. Davidson

‘The Ballad of Sweet William’ - ‘Fair Margaret and Sweet William’ (Child 74) is a traditional English ballad which tells of two lovers, of whom either one or both die from heartbreak. Cecil Sharp collected numerous other variants, considering the ballad "Sweet William's Ghost" (Child 77) to be a slight variation on the basic tale, and it is this upon which our particular interpretation, ‘The Ballad of Sweet William’, is based, with William as the spectral partner and Margaret as the necessary breaker of earthly vows. Traditional versions of this ballad often end with a ‘rose-briar motif’, describing floral growth upon the lovers' neighbouring graves, and we have concluded our variant in a similar fashion. This motif is also featured in a number of other ballads, including ‘Lord Thomas and Fair Annet’, ‘Lord Lovel’, and ‘Barbara Allen’

The Hare And The Moon Scotland, UK

The Hare And The Moon existed between 2009 and early 2017 and are now as ghosts. They lived in the forest and their main occupations were knitting, necromancy, dollmaking and devilry however sometimes they made music too. When they did they liked to throw their love of MR James, Arthur Machen, ghost stories, Black Sabbath, Pentangle and The Wicker Man into their cauldron and give it a good stir. ... more
